Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our bird sitting and boarding services? We have compiled answers to the questions we hear most often from Richmond Hill bird owners.

We care for all companion bird species, including parrots, cockatiels, budgies, conures, African greys, macaws, cockatoos, lovebirds, finches, canaries, doves, and more. If you have an uncommon species, just let us know during the consultation and we will confirm we can accommodate their specific needs.
You can book by filling out the contact form on our website or reaching out to us directly by email. We recommend booking at least one week in advance for overnight and extended stays. Once we receive your request, we will schedule a brief consultation to learn about your bird and finalize the details.
The consultation is a short conversation where we learn about your bird's diet, daily routine, medical history, behavioural preferences, and any special requirements. This allows us to create a personalized care plan so your bird receives consistent, familiar care while they are with us.
No. Every bird is housed individually in their own clean, spacious enclosure unless you specifically request that bonded birds be kept together. We maintain strict separation to prevent disease transmission and reduce stress from unfamiliar bird interactions.
We monitor every bird closely for changes in eating habits, droppings, activity level, and overall behaviour. If we notice any signs of illness, we contact you immediately and, with your permission, arrange a visit to a qualified avian veterinarian. We recommend providing your vet's contact information at the time of booking.
We are happy to provide high-quality seed mixes, pellets, and fresh fruits and vegetables. However, many bird owners prefer to bring their bird's regular food to maintain dietary consistency, and we fully support that. Just let us know your preference during the consultation.
We take a patient, gradual approach with anxious birds. We keep their environment calm and quiet, minimize handling until they are comfortable, and follow familiar routines as closely as possible. We have extensive experience working with shy and nervous birds, and we never force interaction.
Absolutely. We provide daily updates including photos and a brief summary of how your bird is eating, behaving, and spending their time. For extended stays, we also maintain a detailed care log that we share with you at pickup. You are welcome to request additional updates at any time.
Our boarding rates are based on bird size: small birds (budgies, canaries, finches) from $15/day, medium birds (cockatiels, conures, lovebirds) from $20/day, large birds (ringnecks, amazons) from $25/day, and extra large birds (african greys, cockatoos, macaws) from $30/day. Weekly and monthly discounts are available. Exact pricing may vary depending on the number of birds and any special care requirements. Visit our pricing page for full details or contact us for a personalized quote.
We serve bird owners throughout Richmond Hill and surrounding areas, including Richmond Green, Mill Pond, Oak Ridges, the Yonge Street corridor, Lake Wilcox, Bayview Hill, Elgin Mills, Jefferson, Langstaff, and Westbrook. If you are unsure whether you are in our service area, just ask.
